The step-by-step process is easy to follow and simplified for a new cook, but also provides unique tips to really embrace the farm to table lifestyle for seasoned cooks. It was organized and approachable. Next week at the farmer's market I will know exactly what to purchase to create a nourishing meal for my family and no longer let those fresh veggies go to waste!"

DOES THIS SOUND FAMILIAR?

You know you should be making the most of your farm fresh produce, but you find yourself overwhelmed with ALL the kale.

Let's face it--there's nothing more frustrating than purchasing fresh produce, only to feel like you're drowning in veggies and never eating all of them before they spoil. And, there's nothing more disheartening than spending hours googling recipes --only to have your family not eat the new recipe you've tried. Or pulling a veggie out of your bag and not even knowing what it is, much less how to prepare it.

You know you should be eating more fresh, local veggies. Maybe you've even tried signing up for a Community Supported Agriculture membership to keep the veggies coming each week.

And yet, it's not working.

You get all this beautiful produce home, make a few salads for dinner, but there's still more than you know what to do with. You don't want to waste any of these healthy veggies, but it's hard to know how to pull everything together into meals for your family night after night. You've been trying to cook more at home, but it feels overwhelming and sometimes it's like you're stuck in a rut.

Other people make it look easy. But for you, it's anything but. You thought that the hard part was going to be finding a good, local farm, but as it turns out, that was only the beginning. And now you feel like you must be missing something.

You're not alone. Most people who begin eating more local food from the farmer's market, their CSA box, or even their own backyard experience the same challenges.

The truth is that having the confidence to prepare delicious meals full of farm fresh meats and veggies is a game changer, one that will make you healthier, help you waste less and enjoy the flavors of produce harvested at peak ripeness.

The problem? A farm to table meal seems more trouble than it's worth when you're not set up for success... not having a well stocked pantry, missing the right kitchen tools, and lacking the knowledge of how to pull together a meal using farm fresh ingredients.

But, what if there was a way to make sure you got it right?

Hi, I'm Emily!

And just like you, I want the highest quality food for my family.

My husband and I weren’t born farmers, but an interest in healthy eating and a passion for cooking led us to start gardening in whatever space we had available. Eventually we quit our corporate jobs to begin a small farm where we grow the highest quality food, not only for our own family, but for our local community as well. We sell our produce and pasture-raised meat through a Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) model where families receive a box of fresh produce every week. We love coming alongside our members and encouraging them to try new varieties and learn to really make the most of the fresh food from our farm.

Preparing meals with fresh, locally grown meat and produce is better for your health and results in the best tasting food. Yet I know it can be overwhelming when you come home from the farmer's market or open up your CSA box and don't know where to start. Taking my personal experience cooking for my own family as well as working at a local cooking school, I want to come alongside to teach you the essential skills to confidently turn local, fresh produce into your own at-home farm to table experience.

CONSIDER WHAT'S POSSIBLE...

Imagine having simple, fresh meals for your family every night that are full of all the delicious flavors of the season.

Here's what that would look like....

  • Knowing the essential knife skills and cooking techniques to transform any veggies into a tasty dish instead of wondering if you're doing it right.
  • Learning to store (and identify!) your produce properly so it doesn't spoil in the back of the fridge.
  • Making the most of every bit of your veggies (did you know you can make carrot top pesto?!) rather than wasting the food dollars you already spent on purchasing farm fresh food.
  • Developing a weekly routine to plan meals based on what is seasonally available rather than heading out to eat again.
  • Creating an ambience to help you enjoy both the cooking and dining experience with your loved ones rather than rushing through and eating mindlessly while watching TV.

Veggies in CSA share

“It’s easy to understand why eating locally grown produce and meat is a healthier option for all of us. Having food harvested at its peak and delivered within a day or two has so many health benefits, not to mention that it just tastes better. Knowing where and how your food is grown is so important, but equally important is knowing what to do with it. Steve and Emily have created a farm that not only feeds and nourishes our bodies, but our minds, too. They are thoughtful in planning what they grow and they are always willing to share their knowledge and experiences with us."

Product bundle

Our Farm to Table at Home Academy is a practical online course delivered in a self-guided format so you can move through at your own pace! It's designed to help you find the best local products, hone your cooking skills, stock your pantry, and build a seasonal meal plan so that you can consistently enjoy eating farm fresh food in your own home.

As CSA farmers, we've learned A LOT about what it takes to successfully prepare meals using farm fresh products. That's why we created the Farm to Table at Home Academy. We see so many people who want to eat local food because it has more nutrients, better flavor, is better for the environment, and a whole host of other reasons... but when it comes down to it, planning meals featuring local food requires an intentional mindset. And, a slightly different skill set. So I help people find the best local food sources and set themselves up for success in the kitchen.

If you are a new CSA member or farmer's market enthusiast, or if you know you need a better system for incorporating fresh veggies in your meals without letting food go to waste, this is an opportunity I promise you will not want to miss.

"I truly appreciate supporting our local farmers and farmer's markets, but buying products because they're "pretty", without a plan for use in a meal, can lead to food going to waste, which defeats the purpose. Emily and Steve Forbes provide such a great and helpful tool for all of us who want to eat healthier, but may not always know how to plan a whole meal around certain fresh and healthy products!"
