Introducing the Forbes Family Farm CSA

What we aim to do

As a family farm, our goal has always been to grow high quality food for our family and share the bounty with our community. Over the past two years, we’ve progressed from a handful of garden beds and a small flock of laying hens to over 5000 square feet of gardens, hundreds of broiler hens each season, and the latest addition of pasture-raised pork. Each year we grow closer to our goal of raising a full diet for ourselves, and we continue to seek out new ways to make the harvest available to our community.

Uncertainty brought on by the COVID19 pandemic has changed many things about daily life and social interaction around the world. There are many unknowns surrounding the farmer’s markets and special events we’ve traditionally used for selling our produce. Not only that, but we know many people are reconsidering how they get their food and where it comes from. Given this new context, we are transitioning to a CSA-model to make our produce available for purchase.

What does this mean?

When farmer’s markets become a safe and acceptable space for gathering, we will attend and make our vegetables available for sale. However, CSA memberships will be our primary outlet for selling and distributing the products we produce on our farm. We will offer seasonal or full-year memberships and each week members will receive a harvest of whatever is in season on the farm. As the season progresses, members will have added perks of special discounts and access to exclusive on-farm events.

Community supported agriculture (CSA) is a way for community members to purchase locally grown food directly from farmers by purchasing a “share” upfront and then receiving weekly boxes of produce. If this is something you are interested in, please fill out our registration form as spaces are limited. More detailed information is on the registration page.

We look forward to providing outstanding fruits and vegetables for our community this season!
